Effortless is the description I use for this homemade cranberry sauce. I make this sauce every year only to smell the spices while they simmer in the pan! The sauce is as delicious as the aroma throughout the house. The sauce compliments every item on the Thanksgiving table and also tastes great in sandwiches. Absolutely LOVE this sauce!
Main Ingredients
12 ounces quality raspberry jam, 1 jar (I recommend Bonne Maman)
12 ounces cranberries, 1 bag
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon lemon rind, grated
Directions
1. Heat jam in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add cranberries, cinnamon and allspice.
2. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until cranberries pop, about 8 minutes.
3. Remove from heat and stir in lemon rind. Chill at least one hour to allow flavors to blend.
Notes
Substitute ½ cup sugar and ½ cup orange marmalade for raspberry jam, and stir in ½ cup toasted chopped walnuts right before serving.
